Hyde Park Brewing Company, which touts itself as “The Hudson Valley’s Original Brew Pub,” has been open for 16 years. Manager Janine Rodriguez said craft beer is growing in popularity for two reasons:
“It’s fresh and it’s local,” she said. “We try to get some of our hops locally. There are a couple of hops farms that recently popped up on the scene."

Their brewmaster uses 19th century German brewing techniques to craft the batches of beer. There are always six of Hyde Park Brewing Company’s beers on tap, some of which include “Rough Rider Red Lager,” “Barrel 9 Oktoberfest” and “Mary P’s Porter,” a blend of six different malts with a hint of chocolate and deep, dark color.
Hyde Park Brewing Company also offers a full-service bar and full-service restaurant as well as catering.
It has live music every Friday and Saturday night and has held its open mic blue jams on Wednesdays for the last 12 or so years.
“Each beer has its own unique flavor profile and characteristics,” the company website says. “All natural, fresh, clean and delicious…the way beer is meant to be enjoyed. Our selection offers a number of fine beers to compliment the wide variety of dishes we have to offer.”

Rodriguez said craft beer has become such a craze that their more passionate customers have gone on to brew their own beer.
“It’s really become a hobby for a lot of people and some decide to go further with it,” said Rodriguez.

In addition to a wide selection of uniquely blended brews, this Hudson River waterfront brewery also serves food. Peekskill Brewery also includes a full bar. It has 11 beers currently on tap, including “Amazeballs.”
