Annual Sybil Ludington Historical Run Returns To Putnam

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- The 37th annual Sybil Ludington Historical Run, a 50K road race, will be returning to town on Saturday.

Runners are asked to meet at the Brewster Train Station and to arrange a pickup by calling Albert at 646-302-1549.

Check-in begins at 7 a.m. 50K runners will be driven to the start, which is approximately one-and-a-half miles away. The 50K race begins at 8 a.m. The relay will begin at 9 a.m. 

The entry is $40 per runner ($35 for TRRC members) or $50 per team ($45/TRRC). Entry fee for 50K runners includes a free T-shirt.

For the relay race, there are no designated exchange points; runners may switch wherever and whenever they choose. One runner must be on the road at all times, and runners may run any number of legs. Relay teams must provide their own transportation (they may have a designated driver) and support. Only one vehicle per team is allowed. 

Water and Gatorade will be provided at nine locations along the course, starting at the 5-mile mark and then at three- to four-mile intervals.

The following awards will be distributed for the 50K: first-, second- and third-place overall and first-place woman. First-, second- and third-place will also be awarded for 10-year age groups, male and female. For the relay, both runners will have the opportunity to earn first, second or third teams overall.

Food, beer and soda will be served at the VFW as runners finish. Awards will be presented at the VFW at approximately 2 p.m.
