Led by performers Lora Lee Ecobelli, Eddie Allen, Nancy Rothman and Andrew Joffe, this new ensemble at Blue Horse is an outgrowth of “Walking the Dog’s Off Leash Improvisation” in Chatham.

In announcing the 3 to 5 p.m. workshop, Arts on the Lake’s Theatre Programs Director James Shearwood said, “Participants can expect to experience fun, terror, confusion, love, hate and all the other human emotions that come from being in a story the end of which has not yet been written.”

For the evening performance at 7 p.m., suggestions taken from the audience will be incorporated into the playing and advance the stories. “Although improvisation has been part of the play rehearsal process for centuries,” said Shearwood, “it is only in recent years where it has become also a performance art. Watching performers spontaneously create dialogue, a setting and a plot means no two performances are ever alike.”

Tickets to the performance are $15, with discounts for AOTL members and students. The workshop tuition is $24, also with discounts for members and students. Workshop tuition includes admission to the evening performance. Click here to purchase tickets at the website. Reservations may be made at (845) 228-2685. Arts on the Lake is located in the Lake Carmel Arts Center, 640 Route 52 in Kent Lakes.
