Forget Your Troubles, Make A Worry Doll At Brewster Workshop

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- Make your own trouble doll, an old Mayan folklore tradition believed to ease ones troubles, at a workshop on Saturday, Oct. 10 from noon to 2 p.m., at Studio Around the Corner in Old Town Hall.

Worry dolls (muñecas quitapenas), or trouble dolls, are very small and colorful dolls traditionally made in Guatemala and it's a tradition from Mayan's folk and culture. A person who cannot sleep due to worrying can express their worries to a doll and place it under their pillow before going to sleep. It is believed they can used with treatment for disease in children or adults.
