Putnam Readies For July 4 Festivities

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Fireworks are synonymous with July 4, leaving the big question: Where to go?

A sampling of of festivities follows. Feel free to add any we've missed in our comments section below.

Friday, July 3, Southeast: The Southeast Fireworks Spectacular features a night filled with live music and an expansive landscape to set up chairs to enjoy the show.begins Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. 

Friday, July 3, Kent: Grab a blanket and head to Lake Carmel, where the fireworks should begin by 8:45 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from the eastern part of the lake, creating multiple viewing locations.

Pre-fireworks, head to Arts on the Lake, where starting at 5 p.m., the music begins with a host of bands. Included in the festivities: seven-time Emmy nominee Kati Mac and her ensemble, Southeast Station, will play a host of American classics, ranging from traditional folk songs to Woodstock-era tunes. Rain date is July 5.

Saturday, July 4, Cold Spring: Come by 8 p.m. for the annual fireworks with the Hudson River as your backdrop. 

Saturday July 4, Carmel: It doesn't get more festive than this. Expect music, line dancing, games and more starting at noon at Veterans Memorial Park. The Bacon, Blues and BBQ Festival is the fuse before the fireworks. Go here for more information.

Saturday, July 4, Mahopac: Red Mills Park is home to a July 4 concert in the gazebo. The music will start at approximately 8 p.m. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic and enjoy the night.
