Cathryn’s Tuscan Grill, 91 Main St., Cold Spring, (845) 265-5582
What Makes It Pasta Perfect: With a charming interior, attentive staff and inventive northern Italian fare, Cathryn’s is not your basic eatery. The food – a lot of it sourced from Hudson Valley farms – is both rustic and lush. Among the exotic pasta toppings you likely won't find anywhere else: pulled rabbit meat with seedless grape grappa sauce, duck breast (Quattro Game Farm) with dried cherries and port sherry, grilled venison (Broken Arrow Ranch) with currants and red wine reduction and spaghetti with Guinea hen and apple ragu.
Worth Special Mention: Its extraordinary wine list. Fresh oysters from both the east and west coast. Cheeses from Sprout Creek Farm. Zagat rated. Oh, and Cathryn’s is dog friendly too. During the warmer weather, when diners can eat outside on its flower-filled patio, guests are welcome to bring their canine pals.
