CARMEL, N.Y. -- Community members, family, the Carmel-Mahopac Chamber of Commerce, and Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell all came out Saturday to show some love for Grapevine of Carmel Fine Wines and Spirits.
The family owned and operated store opened doors in August, but celebrated its official Grand Opening Saturday with wine and spirit tastings, appetizers and a ribbon cutting, all of which had the place buzzing with visitors and well-wishers for most of the afternoon.
"We're just overwhelmed with the amount of family and local support we have from everyone in this community," Jennifer Dougherty, who owns Grapevine with husband Danny, told Daily Voice. "It's so humbling to see them all coming out... because without them we wouldn't have a business. From the first day we were open, once they knew it was Danny and I they've been so supportive, so welcoming to us. We're just so grateful to have the support of the community."
Regulars at the store have noticed and appreciate the new touches.
"Jen and Danny have such a great eye for knowing how to put out the wine, display everything so perfectly, and the store has an intimate feel to it," Linda Press of Somers said. "They've become very knowledgeable about the wine in a short amount of time, and they've learned about our favorite wines, and ordered all of them, so now they're on the shelves."
Grapevine of Carmel is located at 172 Route 52 in the ShopRite Plaza.
