The venue is a bar, sushi bar and stage adjacent to the Parmount Theater. The concert series is among ways local businessman Louie Lanza is bringing new energy and businesses to Peekskill.
Born in Northern California, Lanza came to Westchester as a teenager and moved to northern Westchester after 20 years owning and running restaurants in New York City.
The Garrison resident is a self-styled "rainmaker for the city," the way a recent restaurateur from Harlem described him.
Lanza owns a classic car business and his family farm makes goat cheese and maple syrup.
For Peekskill, his focus is presently on opening unique restaurants, and real estate and preserving the Hudson River.
“I’m working with an incredible group of people. Everyone recognizes the potential for making Peekskill the most unique city in Westchester and to attract more people interested in living, working and playing by the shores of the Hudson. The waterfront gives us this incredible advantage over other cities," he said.
Manza is currently planning construction on his latest dining spot next to his Taco Dive Bar across from the Peekskill train station (where he’s working with an alliance to open a "Taste NY" food market and Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber Visitors Center).
For Peekskill he envisions making changes to the Charles Point Marina and its surrounding buildings. A pontoon taxi from the train station to the Charles Point Marina is among plans, as are new businesses, Hudson Creamery and the Bun, Brew and Bourbon Shack, coming to Peekskill.
"Charles Point is an extremely strategic partnership with Bill Diamond of Diamond Properties who will bring a Spins Bowl bowling alley, arcade, and laser tag and rope course to Peekskill. We’ll open a large Italian restaurant, upgrade the marina itself, and create a beautiful plaza with views of the river," Lanza said.
The Buddha Nights feature rock and blues by the Blues Buddha Big Band featuring The Lagond All-Stars on six consecutive nights beginning Friday, Feb. 12.
