CARMEL, N.Y. -- For meat lovers, there's nothing like a good barbecue joint. Burnt ends. Tender falling-off-the-bone ribs. Fatty morsels of brisket. A drip-worthy sauce.
Who Has Putnam's Best Barbecue?
Holy Smoke, Mahopac
Northern Smoke BBQ, Carmel
Round Up Texas BBQ, Cold Spring
We asked for your favorites; three finalists are now in the running. You have until 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 to voice your opinion and can vote multiple times, albeit once per day.
Profiles of each are running this week. Winners will receive a DVlicious certificate and the knowledge they out 'cued the competition.
Cue the Beef: Owner and Pitmaster Chris DeRuzzaI, a Culinary Institute of America grad, personally ensures Northern Smoke's cuts are hand butchered and freshly smoked in batches throughout the day.
The menu is a crowd-pleaser, everything from pulled pork tacos to a brisket wrap, chicken quesadilla, rib platter and macaroni and cheese. All rubs and sauces are made on-site. There's even homemade tea and lemonade -- as well as beers and wines -- offering up a Southern-style BBQ with a northern twist.
