And there's no secret to Arnoff's success. It's all about the food.

Kitchen Sink's Facebook page describes the restaurant as 'an eclectic mix of global and family influenced dishes, blending local ingredients with modern techniques.'

Arnoff and his mother also operate a farm in Hyde Park - Truckload Farm and Orchard - that provides many of the vegetables for the restaurant, and Arnoff works with other local farms that provide meat, cheese, and dairy products.

"We work really hard to source as much as we can locally," Arnoff told Daily Voice. "All of our dairy is local. I think people appreciate that we have local products."

Arnoff, who grew up in Poughkeepsie, said his mom got him into cooking when he was a little kid, but his interest got real when he was 15.

"I cooked with her, and with my grandma a little bit, and I fell in love with it," he recalled. "Eventually I needed to get a job, and I decided I'd start cooking."

He started with a food truck in Washington D.C., before deciding to move back to the Hudson Valley in 2014.

"I wanted to be where the food was grown," he said. " It was a good opportunity to move to Beacon, and open a restaurant here."

Arnoff said Beacon has given the restaurant - which was named 'Best New Restaurant in the Hudson Valley' in 2016 by Hudson Valley Magazine - a warm welcome.

"The response from people has been really positive," he said. "I think they're really happy to have us here. There's a great food scene going on in Beacon right now, and we're happy to be a part of that."

"It's been great, I really enjoy doing this," he added. "It's certainly a lot of hard work, but seeing our customers satisfied every night makes it all worth it."

Arnoff said his menu changes all the time, but some popular items have become signature dishes. "We do have a crispy grilled cheese that's been on our menu since Day 1," he said. " We have a kreplach dish, which is like a Jewish style dumpling stuffed with ground braised brisket that's on our menu all the time.... but our menu rotates all the time."

Ultimately, it's Arnoff's skills as a chef that keep people coming back.

"They come here because they love the food," he said. "They know that there are people here who care about what we're feeding our guests, and they appreciate that."

Kitchen Sink Food & Drink is located at 157 Main Street in Beacon.
