The walk is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, Parking Field 1, according to organizers at MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Team Forever Fran, which has raised nearly $8,000 for MADD, is walking in memory of Frances Ghelarducci, who, according to state police, died Nov. 14, 2015, in a three-car crash on Route 6 in Mahopac.

The 54-year-old teaching assistant was a passenger in a Jeep Patriot that was struck by a car driven by Richard O'Keefe, then 57, a former Carmel policeman, former Carmel councilman and a former Mahopac school board trustee.

O'Keefe, who has been accused of driving drunk during the crash, was charged soon after with aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, and driving while intoxicated, according to state police. An update on his case was unavailable Thursday night.

On a Facebook event page, Ghelarducci's daughter, Stephanie Ghelarducci, expressed gratitude for all who have supported MADD and her family.

"My family and I want to thank everyone for their support whether you can make it or not," she said. "It is so amazing to see all the lives my mom has touched, and we cannot thank you all enough!"
