The scholarship, valued at $10,000 over the course of four years, is provided by the Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit that champions educational opportunities for students of all backgrounds. Each year, SYF awards a scholarship to a deserving student who lives within 50 miles of a Simon property.

The winner this year is Caraline McDonnell, a graduate of Carmel High School in Carmel. McDonnell is a Girl Scouts Gold Award winner, was on the varsity ski team and the president of the Book Club at her high school. She will be attending Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., in the fall.

McDonnell’s passions include reading, playing the piano, Irish Step Dance, singing and acting. She would like to pursue a career that involves working with children.

The next round of applications for SYF scholarships opened on Aug. 15. Students can apply online by visiting www.syf.org/scholarships.
