Brewster has become the fifth community to join, along with Carmel, Mahopac, Putnam Valley and Philipstown.

Like the others, this coalition will address those risk taking behaviors that tweens and teens engage in. In addition to substance abuse and alcohol, the coalition will also focus on bullying and online behavior.

“ The goal is simple, says Coalition Coordinator Bruce Kelly, we want healthy kids, healthy families in healthy communities”

To do this, the coalition, which is made up of all the different sectors of the community (parents, school, business, faith, law enforcement, local government, civic and volunteers, youth, youth serving groups, health care professionals and organization that reduce substance abuse), will provide information through a variety of outlets ( online, printed materials & community forums)as well as working with community partners on a host of initiatives to achieve our goal, Kelly added.

If interested in being a part of the coalition please contact Bruce Kelly at putnamdfcgrantee@gmail.com
