The mass will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 20, at the maximum-security correctional facility for men. The prison houses some 1,960 inmates, with about 18 percent practicing Catholic's, said the Archdiocese of New York.

The facility’s Chapel of St. Paul, was built by the inmates back in the 1960s, under the direction of the late Msgr. Edward J. Donovan, who was the priest at Greenhaven for 38 years.

To pay for the building, Donovan raised money by various fund-raising efforts including collecting and redeeming trading stamps.
