Choosing our next sheriff should be a pretty simple process. Putnam voters can look at the two candidates—the incumbent and Robert Langley—and see plenty of differences, big and small. The biggest, though, is this: only the incumbent is costing the taxpayers of Putnam County $125,000 for a mess of his own making, the result of his well-documented dishonesty. And only the incumbent is facing a separate $45 million lawsuit that could end up costing Putnam taxpayers even more. Robert Langley is saddled with none of that baggage. He’s a lawman, not a liability, and has vowed to serve the people of this county with integrity. With more than 20 years of decorated service in the sheriff’s department to his credit and deep ties to the community, he’s got the experience and know-how to deliver on that promise. I will vote for Robert Langley on Nov. 7 because he will be an excellent sheriff—and because the incumbent is too expensive.
