The idea came from board member Robert De Lucia, who will be driving a 30-foot trailer full of supplies to Florida on Sept. 15. The chamber is looking to collect items such as diapers, toiletries, batteries, blankets, bottled water, and flashlights. Clothes and food donations will not be accepted

The Mahopac School District will be providing drop boxes in its schools and Community Cares will be collecting funds to donate to boots on the ground organizations.

"We are so happy to team up with the Greater Mahopac Carmel Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations and bring help to our friends in Florida who must deal with the aftermath of Irma," Amy Sayegh, president and founder of Community Cares said.
