The incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. when the victim was stopped on the shoulder of the parkway just south of Pudding Street in the town of Putnam Valley when a white, older model Ford Crown Victoria pulled up behind the driver with flashing red grille lights, but no flashers, state police said.

The man, described as a white male with short hair, a dark mustache, wearing a black jacket, approached the victim with a black pistol in his right hand and demanded the victim's wallet and cell phone, state police said.

The victim, who was driving a 2005 Acura MDX, turned over the items to the man who then returned to his car and drove away, state police said.

State Police are asking anyone who may have information or witnessed the event to contact Investigator Peter Ciacci at 914-788-8044 or Peter.Ciacci@troopers.ny.gov.
