 The Missing Adult Alert activated Saturday for a 75-year-old Hudson Valley man has been canceled after he was found safe on Long Island on Sunday morning.

Robert Birmingham of Hamptonburgh in northern Orange County was located in Lynbrook, Nassau County, after an individual saw the alert on a variable highway sign, recognized Birmingham's vehicle and called police,. said the New York State Public Safety Department.

He is safe and will be returned home.

A Missing Person Alert has been issued related to the disappearance of a 75-year-old Hudson Valley man last seen behind the wheel of a vehicle similar to the one shown here on Saturday morning.

Robert Birmingham of Hamptonburgh in northern Orange County has dementia and may be in need of medical attention, authorities said. 

He is described as being white, 5-foot-7, 210 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. A photo of Birmingham has not yet been released, but he was driving a 2003 gold Toyota Highlander with New York registration CRG-8287 (similar to the one shown above).

He was last seen on King Drive in Hamptonburgh at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, and may attempt to travel to New York City., authorities said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call State Police in Montgomery at (845) 457-1388 or 911.

In addition to Orange County, the alert also includes Rockland, Dutchess, Putnam, as well as Sullivan, Ulster, Columbia, and Greene counties and all of New York City.
