If re-elected, Gipson plans to fight for an expanded Environmental Protection Fund – which creates jobs, builds local parks and protects wilderness areas – and to seek reform the Brownfield Cleanup Program, which is critical to jump start the local economy in Hudson Valley cities such as Poughkeepsie. “In just one term, Senator Gipson has emerged as an up-and-coming leader on environmental issues,” said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “Whether he’s fighting for clean energy or the cleanup of contaminated land, Senator Gipson has been a strong environmental ally for the Hudson Valley. We are proud to endorse him for re-election, and we encourage voters who want a greener, cleaner Hudson Valley to support Terry Gipson for State Senate.”
Gipson also responded to the endorsement.
“I’m proud that my record on environmental issues facing the Hudson Valley and New York State has earned me the support of the New York League of Conservation Voters," said Gipson.
"I've fought to keep hazardous chemicals from being used in our children’s toys, enact greater protections for the Hudson River from an oil train disaster and keep fracking waste out of New York State. Additionally, I have been a tireless advocate for increased investments in renewable energy and environmental programs to help clean-up and revitalize our communities. I will continue to fight in the State Senate so that New York can look forward to a cleaner, and greener, future."
