Nypd Officer, Southeast Resident, In Stable Condition After Shooting

SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- New York City police officer and Southeast resident Patrick Espeut is in stable condition after being one of two officers shot during an altercation in the Bronx on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Officials say Espeut, who graduated from Brewster High School in 2004, was on patrol with a female officer in the Melrose Houses at 345 E. 153rd St. when they encountered armed suspects and were shot, Newsday reported. Espeut was shot in the cheek, the report said.

The gunman then ran into an apartment and shot and killed himself, the report said.
