Oliverio Would Back Senior Center In Western Putnam If The Deal Is Right

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sam Oliverio, Democratic candidate for county executive, would like to see a senior center in Cold Spring, but with certain conditions.

Oliverio, a Putnam County legislator, is running against the Republican incumbent MaryEllen Odell.

In a video interview with Daily Voice, Oliverio said he would support a senior center in Philipstown in the proposed Butterfield development.

Oliverio said he wants a lease-to-buy agreement and not a long-term lease agreement.

"A great deal of mischief can occur," Oliverio said. "At the end of five-six years, maybe the economy goes into a downturn and now the rent is exorbitantly raised. What do you do? Throw your seniors out and stop the services?"
