One Killed, Two Hurt In I-84 Crash That Leads To Five-Hour Closure

FISHKILL, N.Y. -- One person was killed and two injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes of I-84 in Fishkill.

The accident resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes for approximately five hours.

A state police investigation revealed that a white Toyota Highlander, which was traveling westbound, crossed into the center grassy median and into the eastbound lanes of travel where it was struck by a tractor-trailer which was traveling eastbound.

A passenger in the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene, state police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries, was transported to a local hospital, treated and released. The driver of the Toyota suffered internal injuries and was stat flighted to Westchester Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
