The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients. Both Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Putnam Hospital Center were recognized as top providers in the following practices and specialties:
- Treatment of heart attacks
- Treatment of heart failure
- Treatment of pneumonia
- Surgical care
Northern Dutchess Hospital achieved acknowledgment for attaining and sustaining excellence in pneumonia and surgical care for the third consecutive year. “Our doctors, nurses and hospital administrators work tirelessly to ensure that our three hospitals provide the best possible care and patient experience, and we are honored to receive this recognition from the Joint Commission,” said Dana Curry, Health Quest’s assistant vice president of quality and improvement. Top Performers are published on the Joint Commission’s www.qualitycheck.org and in the “Improving America’s Hospitals” annual report. To select honorees, The Joint Commission reviews 2013 accountability measure data to see which hospitals delivered the appropriate medical treatment in the correct manner and at the right time.
