Unfortunately, it's also known for being one of the busiest times of the year for law enforcement when those joyous celebrations get out of hand when residents drink too much, police said.
According to the Putnam Communities That Care Coalition, Wednesday, Nov. 25, also known as "Blackout Wednesday," has become one of the biggest drinking nights of the year, surpassing New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day.
Police say that drunk driving accidents, assaults and vandalism are all too often the result.
To insure that this doesn’t happen, law enforcement officials will be out in force to make sure the roadways in the county will be safe.
Officials are also reminding residents to have a designated driver or have the number of a taxi company on hand if they plan to drink at parties or at local bars and restaurants.
