Putnam Pipeline Extension Foes Speak To School Board

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – A group opposing the extension of the Algonquin Pipeline in Putnam County has presented its arguments before the Mahopac Board of Education, The Examiner reports.

Courtney Williams, a member of Stop the Algonquin Pipeline Extension, or SAPE, said that extending the pipeline could expose the community to hazardous emissions, according to the report. She also said the project would increase traffic for students trying to get back and forth from school, the report states.

Spectra Energy is the company pushing for the extension, but the future of the project would be decided by Federal Energy Regulation Commission, according to the report.
