The 7th annual Lake Peekskill Family Day will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at North Beach. The event will feature a DJ, band, food and soda. Kids' games will include an egg toss, potato sack race and water balloon catching.

Thirty five people who used to live in Lake Peekskill will be coming back and having a get together in the town they used to call home.

"This is open to the entire community," said Town Supervisor Robert Tendy. "There's a lot of fun stuff going on for kids and adults."

Lake Peekskill Family Day was revived in 2008 after previously running many years ago.

"When I got elected, I was talking to a woman and she wanted to know what happened to Lake Peekskill Family Day," Tendy said. "She really liked it as a kid. I thought it sounded like a great idea and wanted to get it jump started again."

The event is funded through various grants, including one for $1,000 from Entergy, which helps cover most of the costs.

"All of the money goes to the Lake Peekskill Youth Committee," Tendy said. "They put on a lot of events for young kids, it goes to a lot of good events."

Tendy said the day is about celebrating the close-knit community.

"It's a big gathering," said Tendy, who expects more than 300 people to attend. "You have friends, kids with grandparents, parents with their parents. It's just a day for families to get together and their beach. Everyone really looks forward to it."
