The Putnam Valley Fifth Annual Psychic Fair will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the German American Club at 11 Kramers Pond Road in Putnam Valley. The event is run by medium Priscilla Keresey, a medium who lives in Lake Peekskill.

"I created this fair five years ago to bring sixth-sense craft to the public in an approachable and affordable way," Keresey said. " Many people had the idea that psychic arts are weird, so I wanted to show my community that intuitive readings can be quite practical."

Readers, which also include angel card, palm readers, rune readers, mediums, intuitive healers and Reiki masters charge $10 for their services. The event was originally hold at the Putnam Valley Grange but moved to accommodate more people.

"It's going to be wonderful," Keresey said. "I started this because I didn't know any other psychics. There is so much value in intuitive information. It has just grown by leaps and bounds."

The event also features vendors selling food and handmade soaps and jewelry. Most of the psychics are from the tri-state area, with many coming from Putnam. Keresey said she finds her psychics through referrals and that psychics who don't get good feedback are not brought back.

"Guests will call me or send me an e-mail and say I really liked this person or this person really wasn't honest," Keresey said. "I do try and get reputable psychics. There are good relationships with psychics and guests. We don't believe in competition, psychics all support each other. It's wonderful."

Many people are concerned about seeing a psychic for fear of getting bad news, Keresey said. She said she is about empowering her clients, not making them feel bad.

"There's always additional information," Keresey said. "We tell them how to avoid or manage any negative information. It's fun for people to observe."

Keresey said her goal is to bring the sixth sense into the mainstream.

"It's not weird," Keresey said. "It's not voodoo. It's just another source of information."
