The soaking rains, expected to strike late Tuesday into Wednesday, are likely to impact much of the tristate area, including Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess counties, northern New Jersey and Connecticut, according to the report.

Elsewhere, cities as far south as Raleigh, North Carolina, and as far west as Chicago will be affected, according to accuweather.com.

Though some flooding is possible as a result of the storm system, forecasters said a bigger problem may be experienced on the roads, where slick surfaces will be made more dangerous by the falling leaves of autumn, according to the report.
