Putnam's Heaviest Snow Expected Near Dutchess Border

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- The winter storm bearing down on Putnam County and the entire tristate area will drop higher amounts of snow closer to the border with Dutchess County, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for all of Putnam county through 1 a.m. on Thursday. Snow is expected to fall for most of the day and evening hours a total of 5 to 11 inches are possible. 

The Poughkeepsie area could receive up to 14 inches of snow.

Snow will begin to taper off overnight with just a 20 percent chance of a snow shower on Thanksgiving morning. 

Sunny skies will return on Friday with temperatures in the 30s.
