Teen Killed After Being Hit By Car Crossing Road To Danbury Pizza Place

DANBURY, Conn. — A 17-year-old girl was killed and a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured when they were struck by a car while crossing Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury late Thursday, police said. 

The two were hit while crossing from the Stop & Shop parking lot to the Stanziato’s Wood-Fired Pizza at 9:24 p.m., Danbury police said.

Both were rushed to Danbury Hospital, where Rebecca Draper Townsend, 17, of Brookfield was pronounced deceased, police said.

Benjamin Arne, 17, of New Fairfield, was being treated for his injuries. He was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, police said. 

Police said Krista Consalva, 23, of Brookfield, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra west on Lake Avenue Extension when the accident occurred, police said. No charges have been filed.  

No further details were released about the accident.
