The truck, from Shawnee Transportation in Pennsylvania, slid on Wilson Street as it headed toward its destination about a mile away, said the driver, who did not give his name. He said he hit a slippery spot on Wilson, which is very steep.

When he got to the bottom of the hill, a popular cut-through street near downtown, he turned the wheel of the truck, but it continued to slide straight and went through a snowbank and into the home, he said.

Police at the scene said there were no injuries in the accident, which occurred before 6 a.m. The residents remained inside the home while firefighters and a building official from the city of Danbury inspected the damage.

It was not clear how long it would take to clear the scene. Grand Street, Wilson Street and South Street are all blocked by police.
