The proposition listed on the ballot calls for the supervisor to be limited to four, two-year terms. It also calls for limiting council members to two, four-year terms.

The term limits, according to the ballot measure, would be effective for the next biennial town election, which will be held on Nov. 3, 2015.

Town Board members are mixed on the issue, according to a recent report in The Putnam County Press/Times. This includes, according to the newspaper, opposition to the measure from Councilwoman Penny Ann Osborn, support from Councilman William Huestis and deference to the public's decision from Supervisor Maureen Fleming.

The supervisor did not respond to a message seeking comment.

The language of the proposition can be read online on the second page of a general-election sample ballot.
