Astorino hit back at Christie, saying if Christie isn't interested in helping to get Republican candidates elected, then he should step down as chairman of the Republican Governors Association.
Astorino went on to suggest that perhaps New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Christie were working together to protect themselves against fallout from the George Washington Bridge scandal, politico.com reported.
John Curzio agreed with Astorino that Christie should step down from the Governors Association.
"Like Astorino, Christie is from a blue state," Curzio said. "He knows what it's like to be an underdog and that nothing is a lost cause."
Curzio said Astorino has a fighting chance and would be better off if the Republican Governors Association boosted his campaign.
Giovanni Santana, of Carmel, also believes Christie should step down after his comments about Astorino.
"He should definitely help him with his campaign," Santana said.
Greg Purdy, of Carmel, echoed President Ronald Reagan's famed 11th Commandment that "thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."
"A fellow Republican should help another Republican," Purdy said.
