Beacon Woman Faces Charges In Alleged Day Care Benefit Scam

BEACON, N.Y. -- A Beacon woman has been charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud after being accused of receiving day care benefits while her husband was able to care for her children, according to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Cindy River is facing felony charges of third-degree grand larceny and third-degree welfare fraud after her arrest by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the Journal reported. 

Rivera, 37, is accused of collecting about $41,000 in benefits between July 2011 and July 2012, according to the Journal.
