Brewster Man, 36, Turns Himself In Hours After Bank Robbery

A suspect in a Danbury robbery turned himself in to police early Friday, less than 12 hours after the incident at Union Savings Bank, police said.

The suspect was identified as Michael Zemsky, 36, of Brewster, police said.

The robbery occurred at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Union Savings Bank at 126 North St. just off I-84, police said. The suspect had been described as a white man wearing a blue hoodie and blue pants, police said. He handed a note to a teller stating that he had a weapon, but no weapon was displayed, police said. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

The Danbury Police Department's Detective Bureau released surveillance photos of the suspect to the media. With the public’s assistance, detectives were quickly able to establish a suspect, police said.

Zemsky turned himself in to the Danbury Police Department at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, police said. He was charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree larceny. Zemsky was held on $10,000 bond.
