KENT, N.Y. -- A Carmel man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content at more than three times the legal limit following a car accident on Route 301, according to the Kent Police Department.

Timothy Hanahoe, 48, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after Kent Officer Angel Rivera responded to a single-car accident around 9:45 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, and discovered a car in the woods with Hanahoe and his passenger sitting on the side of the road, police said.

Hanahoe was charged after failing a series of field sobriety tests and registering 0.29 percent on a blood alcohol test,  police said.

Hanahoe was released without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 10.
