A Hudson Valley man is behind bars after being busted with fentanyl during a warrant search of his home, according to the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Neighborhood Recovery Unit.

Ceasar Ashley, 62, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested Saturday following an investigation into illegal drugs sales in the area by the recovery unit, along with Emergency Services Unit, Dutchess County Drug Task Force and the Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Sgt. Terrance Beam.

During the search, officers seized four grams of fentanyl, which can be 10 times more potent than heroin. They also seized packaging materials, scales, a small amount of cash, and other articles used in the distribution of controlled substances, Beam said.

Ashley was charged with one felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is being held at the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Community members with information regarding drug dealing or suspicious activity in their neighborhood are encouraged to contact the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Neighborhood Recovery Unit at 845-451-4060.
