MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- A serious accident occurred off Route 6 in Mahopac Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred at 234 Bucks Hollow Road at 9:45 a.m. and resulted in downed power lines down. 

The passenger, who was extricated from the vehicle, was hospitalized. There has been no immediate report on the condition of the passenger.

Carmel Police found a power pole severed at the base but no immediate danger, with crews from NYSE&G being dispatched to the scene.  

Smoke was reported in the house being affected where the power lines were disrupted. With manpower already dedicated to the vehicle accident, a mutual aid call to Mahopac Falls Fire was put out to assist with the call at the house.

The stretch of the road had reopened by 11:30 a.m.

Mahopac Fire, EMS and Fire Police, along with units from Carmel Police and TransCare medics responded to the accident.
