Police nabbed a 26-year-old man for DWI after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, according to Kent Police Chief Alex DiVernieri Jr.

Brandon Birdsall, of New Milford, Conn., was arrested after officer Dan Huestis noticed his pick-up truck off the side of the road around 1 a.m. Sunday on Route 52 near Ludingtonville Road, the chief said.

The truck appeared to have struck a tree and an investigation by the officer determined that Birdsall was intoxicated, DiVernieri said.

Birdsall was arrested and charged with DWI. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 29.
