New York State Police troopers out of Rhinebeck arrested 30-year-old Germantown resident Michael Willams on Monday following an investigation into financial misappropriations by the New York State Department of Labor.

According to police, Williams collected $6,682.50 in unemployment benefits while he was still working in Hyde Park.

Williams was arrested and charged with first-degree falsifying business records, a felony. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in the Town of Hyde Park Justice Court in November to answer the charge.
