The video on Twitter from state police shows Texas hopping from a van at a parking lot on Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury, near the Ridgefield border, still wearing his green vest and dragging his leash.

K9 Officer Texas, a bloodhound, went missing Wednesday night while working to find a missing man in the woods near Wooster Mountain in Danbury, state police said.

The dog appears healthy as he is greeted by officials. No details had yet been released on where and how he was found.

The Connecticut State Police, Danbury Police and Fire officials as well as members of the public and other police forces took part in the search.

It began at 6 p.m. Wednesday, the Danbury Police Department requested assistance in the search for a missing adult autistic man in the area of Wooster Mountain.

State Police K9 Search and Rescue Teams, CSP Bloodhound Teams and Trooper 1 responded to the area off Sugar Hollow Road near the RIdgefield border to assist in the search.

The missing man was located by K9 Officer Zeus and was safely walked out of the woods, police said.

But during the search, a Connecticut State Police K9 handler conducting a track lost his footing while negotiating steep terrain and lost the 15-foot leash on his dog, police said.

At that time, K9 Texas was pulling strongly up the slope and continued tracking up the ledge, police said.

When the trooper reached the top of the hill, K9 Texas was not in sight.

The search for Texas went on all day Thursday until it was suspended late and night. The search resumed Friday morning.
