State police say they charged Angel J. Giuliano, a 31-year-old from Troy, with assault and criminal mischief on Thursday at the Brunswick Plaza after troopers responded to the plaza for a report of an active assault in the parking lot between two women.
The incident occurred during merging where the two eastbound lanes come together just outside Troy, police said.
The victim stated when she drove into the plaza and got out of her car she was assaulted by Giuliano, who punched and slapped her, police said.
The victim sustained bruises and scrapes to her face and hand, according to police.
When the victim tried to call 911 from her cell phone, Giuliano knocked it out of her hand, police reported.
Giuliano was taken into custody and processed before being released with a court appearance ticket.
On Saturday night, a 21-year-old man was charged with manslaughter after fatally stabbing a fellow motorist during a road rage incident on the Taconic.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., state police responded to a reported stabbing on the Taconic in the Town of Mount Pleasant.
Upon arrival, 28-year-old Daniel Siino of Hartsdale was discovered in a vehicle with stab wounds, according to police. The investigation revealed that the victim had engaged in a road rage incident with Christian A. Walczyk, 21, of Pleasant Valley in Dutchess County, police said.
The incident turned physical and Walczyk stabbed Siino in the chest, according to police. Siino returned to his vehicle and his passenger began driving him to the hospital while contacting 911, police said. EMS and state troopers subsequently located and rendered aid to Siino who was transported to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Walczyk, who had also left the scene and called 911 was located nearby and taken into custody without incident, police said. Walczyk was charged with one count of manslaughter in the first degree, a Class B felony, arraigned in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.
The State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Town of Mount Pleasant Police Department, the Village of Briarcliff Manor Police Department and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
