Officers from the East Fishkill Police Department responded to an interrupted burglary at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 at a Beekman Road home in Hopewell Junction when a woman reported she came home and a suspect ran off, carrying property in the direction of the parkway.

Police were eventually able to track down the driver - later identified as 47-year-old Christopher Videtto - near the intersection of I-84 and he was arrested while in possession of various stolen items belonging to the victim.

The subsequent investigation determined that Videtto was traveling from Massachusetts and passing through East Fishkill when he stopped to break into the victim’s home. Police said that it appears to be a random crime with no connections to the victim or the area. Various items were recovered by police.

Videtto, whose place of residence was not released, was charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny, both felonies. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond. He is due back in East Fishkill Court next year to answer the charges.
