Candice M. Jackson, 33 of Poughkeepsie, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony welfare fraud after the investigation, in conjunction with the Investigations Division of the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services.

The investigation found that Jackson fraudulently received over $5,000 in benefits between October 2014 and August 2015 by concealing the fact that one of her children no longer lived with her, police said.

After being processed Jackson was arraigned at the City of Poughkeepsie Court and released to reappear on Feb. 13.
