Deputy sheriffs responded Feb. 29 to a report of a burglar alarm at a liquor store on Fairfield Drive in the Putnam Lake section of the Town of Patterson, police report.

Upon arrival, it was determined someone had used a rock to break the glass to the front door of the business; the suspect apparently fled the scene when the alarm sounded, according to officials.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation, working in conjunction with detectives from the Danbury Police Department, developed a suspect in the incident, identified as Sara M. Sadler, 17, of Brookfield, Conn., police report.

Investigators arrested Sadler and charged her with third-degree attempted burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies, according to officials.

The defendant was processed and turned over to the custody of a parent, pending an April 14 appearance in the Town of Patterson Justice Court to answer the charges, according to police.

If found guilty of the charges, Sadler faces up to four years in state prison and a fine of up to $5,000 for each charge, officials report.

Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
