State Police are seeking the public’s assistance as they search for a pair of suspicious men who were skulking around Southeast, looking for houses to enter.

Troopers received a report this week regarding two suspicious men who were walking around several Putnam County blocks, “looking for ways to enter” in the areas of Larkspur Road, South Drive and South Road.

Police described the two men as white males in their 20s. One homeowner interviewed by investigators told troopers that one of the men knocked on the door, claiming that they thought they had rented the house before making off on foot.

Anyone who may have had contact with the two men or has information regarding similar suspicious activities in the area have been asked to contact state police by calling (845) 677-7300 and asking to leave a message for Trooper Kuhlmann of the Brewster barrack.
