Laura A. Snyder, 34, was charged with petit larceny after she was stopped around 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16 at the Kohl’s Department Store, said Lt. William McNamara.

According to McNamara, a Kohl’s store detective called the Sheriff’s Office and reported that he was detaining a shoplifter at the store, which is located on Independence Way in Southeast.

Deputies Keith Simone and Daniel Hunsberger were dispatched to the scene, where the store detective told them he saw Snyder place three boxes of cosmetics in her handbag and then walk out of the store past the cash registers without paying for them. The store detective stopped her and the cosmetics, reportedly valued at over $100 were recovered from her handbag, police said.

Snyder was charged with petit larceny, issued an appearance ticket and released. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 4.
