About 3:35 p.m., troopers responded to the crash site at New Hackensack and Widmer roads in Wappinger, police said.

Beverly A. Farwell, 68, of Poughkeepsie, was driving a Chevrolet sedan and for an unknown reason crossed a double yellow line, according to police.

Farwell’s vehicle sideswiped a 2013 Honda sport-utility vehicle operated by Yunhee Yoon, 51, of Poughkeepsie, police said.

Yoon had unsuccessfully attempted to avoid the collision, which forced her vehicle off New Hackensack Road, according to police.

Farwell’s Chevrolet then hit a 2012 Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle head-on, police said.

The driver of that vehicle, Susan E. Kelly, 44, of Poughkeepsie, along with her 17-year-old daughter, were treated at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital and released, according to police.

Farwell and her 5-year-old grandson, who was a back-seat passenger in the Chevrolet sedan, were both in stable condition after sustaining head trauma in the accident, police said.

Farwell was ticketed for failing to keep right, according to police.

No one else was injured in the three-vehicle collision, and authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role, police said.

Authorities closed New Hackensack Road for about 90 minutes to clear the accident.

Members of the New Hackensack Fire Department and TransCare Ambulance assisted New York State Police troopers at the scene.
