New York State Police, who responded to the crash around 10:52 p.m., said Gregory Prince, 29, of Hillcrest, was traveling southbound on Route 9D when he was hit head-on by 61-year-old Lynford Davis of Beacon.

The accident occurred when Davis attempted to pass another northbound car in a no-passing zone and struck Prince, state police said.

Davis' car then left the roadway and hit a utility pole, state police said.

Davis was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries and is listed in critical but stable condition.

Prince was transported by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
