PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- An undercover investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office led to the arrest of a Putnam Valley man after he sold painkillers to an undercover officer, Sheriff Donald B. Smith said.
Christopher Cardillo, 31, is facing half-a-dozen felony possession and sale of a controlled substance charges following the investigation by the department's Narcotics Enforcement Unit, said Capt. William McNamara.
The investigation into Cardillo began in July 2016 after the department received information that he was selling prescription medications, McNamara said.
During the probe, Cardillo allegedly sold Oxycodone pills to an undercover investigator on three different occasions. On Feb. 22, 2017, members of the NEU took Cardillo into custody at his residence, McNamara added.
Cardillo was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance.
He was remanded to the Putnam County Jail on $500 bail or $1,000 bond. Cardillo bonded out of jail on Feb. 25.
If found guilty of the felony charges, he could face up to 25 years in jail and a fine of up to $30,000 on each count.
